What's Gracie Press?
A new media experiment in the milieu of X, Substack and podcasts. Herein we adapt the legendary Gracie Challenge to Media:
Our goal is to converge over time onto the capital-T Truth. The hope is that stepping through this learning process in the open can create broad-based confidence in our findings, and therefore greater political alignment among all humans.
Why do others not already practice this? Because politics quickly become tribal, and positions get bundled. Suppose you're pro-life but anti-gun. That's awkward for you because your allies on pro-life may likely disagree with you on guns. Gracie aims to deliver oxygen to such "oxymoronic" individuals, by unbundling all positions.
Steve Jobs famously quipped that customers don't want to be systems integrators. That's what (news)media feels like now. Because platforms control traffic, thinkers and commentators become scattered and diffused across a hundred different channels.
Certainly the traffic acquisition problem can't be wished away. It requires clips, co-signs and guest appearances. That's just the nature of the beast.
But what we aspire to here at Gracie Press is to replicate the magic of chomsky.info/. We want to anunciate our ideas broadly, but still provide you an ultracoherent, multi-dimensional overview of our entire corpus right here at gracie.press.
While we espouse intuitive, valenced positions here as a starting point, we don't harbor fixed ideological commitments. Not merely are we amenable to persuasion through reading, writing and debate, but are desirous of such correction.
There's a lot of legacy linkage in discourse, of stale positions bundled together in the last revolution. There's also a lot of toxicity either willfully introduced, or gradually accumulated and not cleared out. Gracie promises distillation. We only care about what's True. That's the Gracie promise.
